Welcome to the Stareton web site.
The hamlet is located between Stoneleigh Abbey, Stoneleigh Park and Stoneleigh Village. It was originally part of the Abbey estate and is now made up of various timber framed Grade II listed cottages spread along a single tree lined road that date back to the mid 16th century.
In some ways Stareton has a classic English village history. It evolved from the geography of the area, on the edge of the ancient forest of Arden & the open land of Feldon, where the river & landscape create a natural site for a settlement. However, Stareton is unusual in that it has detailed accounts of its medieval past especially from it's association with Stoneleigh Abbey. It has early records dating back 900 years which later record the village shrinking in size in the mid 17th Century & subsequently losing houses & land to make way for the Stoneleigh deer park also recorded in detail by the Leigh Family during the last 450 years. The nearest towns are Leamington Spa, Kenilworth & Warwick as well as being close to the City of Coventry.
